Are brands actually asking suppliers about microfiber shedding yet?

I’ve been talking to a couple of textile suppliers recently and something feels a bit unclear. There’s a lot of discussion around microplastics and microfiber shedding in synthetic fabrics… but I can’t tell if this is already a real compliance topic or still more of a sustainability conversation.

For those working in sourcing / production / sustainability.

Have brands started asking for data around microfiber release?

Or is this still not showing up in audits or RFQs? Genuinely trying to understand if this is becoming operational or if it’s still mostly theory.
