Surprising my mom with a trip to Vietnam (or..)

Yooo!

I’m going to surprise my mom with a 2 week trip to Vietnam unless you can convince me to take her elsewhere!

She has never traveled anywhere outside of North America. I want to take her on an unforgettable adventure to a place she would never go. That has led me to Vietnam. I considered Japan, and am open to hearing other suggestions.

My current idea for Vietnam is to fly into Hanoi, do the Ha Giang Loop, cruise Halong Bay, then possibly fly to the south beaches or even Thailand for the back half of the trip.

But I want to hear some ideas! For Vietnam or elsewhere. I just want to give my mom the trip of a lifetime, because she’s the friggen best.
