Douyin eye look advice

I attempted Douyin 'puppy dog' eye makeup today and it just look like thick liner and a strange half semi circle. Any advice? Is it even possible with my eye shape/undereyes? I know there's more than just this type and I should try the super thin delicate eye look but I just adore the drop and Manhua style of this look. I used the nyx brow flick for eyeliner in black. Also that fold is just a natural crease/line i have Aegyo-sal is another story completely :(
