I completely F'd up and pissed off a client because I was late and MIA
Yesterday I had a small 2hr event photography gig. I put off prepping and packing my gear until the last minute. I was busy trying to multitask for a big shoot the following day and editing shots from a shoot on Monday. Last minute I packed all my stuff and got to venue 10 mins late. As I was setting up my camera I realized I don't have my flash!! Oh shit!! I still had 20 mins until the event started and my house is 1 mile from the venue so I jetted to my car and quickly grabbed my flash. I got back to the venue and parked my car in an illegal space because I had 0 time to search for parking. I got back before the event and my POC asked me "where were you? I was hoping to get some candid pics before the event" I was honest and told her I forgot my flash but I'm here now.
So during the event there was a lunch break. I don't shoot people eating so I thought "I'll move my car really quickly" I left for like 10 mins and she calls me "where are you I'm looking for you" FUCK I can tell she's really pissed. She was looking for me to take some group pics during lunch.
I was able to capture everything needed on the shot list and stayed a bit longer. I also rushed to edit the pics and deliver them within 3 hours of the event ending. I was extremely apologetic and took responsibility for my F' up. I even told her I wouldn't charge her for these pics because of my F' up. I hoped that not charging for the pics that she would at least accept my apology and taking responsibility instead of me coming up with excuses.
Later on last night I noticed she posted on the pics on social media but never even replied or acknowledged me. That kinda stung.
