The World’s Largest Sailing Yacht Christened In Saint-Nazaire, France

On 29 April 2026, the Orient Express Corinthian was officially named in Saint-Nazaire, France.

As the world’s largest sailing yacht, the 220-metre vessel combines French luxury with cutting-edge decarbonization technology.

Architect Maxime d’Angeac took inspiration from the ‘Golden Age of Travel’ and, along with 2,000 French artisans, created this contemporary masterpiece.

It was developed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, and features a novel SolidSail system: three 1,500 m² rigid sails capable of providing 100% propulsion in favourable conditions.

During its sea trials, the ship reached 12 knots under sail alone.

The ship can also pass under bridges since its carbon masts can tilt 70 degrees.

Its eco-friendly design, coupled with hybrid LNG propulsion, earns the vessel the best-in-class energy efficiency rating, avoiding 9,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

Orient Express Corinthian can accommodate 110 Guests and has a 170-member crew.

It also has an AI-assisted mammal detection and dynamic positioning system to protect the seabed.

The world’s largest sailing yacht features 54 suites with panoramic windows and dedicated butler services.

There are 5 restaurants helmed by Chef Yannick Alléno, 8 bars, a 115-seat cabaret, a recording studio, and a Guerlain spa.

It also has a 16.5-metre swimming lane and a marina for direct sea access.

Sailing under the French flag, the Corinthian will leave Saint-Nazaire on May 2, 2026, for the Mediterranean.

The 2026 season will cover the Mediterranean and Adriatic, followed by a Caribbean winter.

Its sister ship, the Orient Express Olympian, is currently being fitted out for a future launch.
