Amusing air fare oddity.

We are taking a cruise across the Atlantic that starts in Rotterdam, Netherlands and ends up here in Florida. We have been checking flights to Amsterdam, but from our nearest airport, it was going to be 700 dollars each. My wife got the idea to check Brussels, since we have to take a train to Rotterdam anyway, and the flights are literally half as much. 350 dollars for each of us, so we booked that.

Here's the best part. Our flight goes out of Orlando, flies to Amsterdam, then we have a 3 hour layover and catch a 45 minute flight to Brussels. Essentially we are gaining 350 dollars each to fly to Brussels. I just don't get how airlines work sometimes.
