how do you get good at taking photos? can you become photogenic?

so people in real life think i'm attractive but online people have told me i look like a fucking psychopath so i want to learn to take photos of myself, even in selfies i can't seem to relax my eyelids lol, is there any way to learn this? i was thinking about posing for hours on a mirror until i find poses that suit me well, or trying to copy guys photos from pinterest or instagram
