Excel Map chart not recognizing France region

Hi,

I am doing a market analysis of European countries. So far, the Excel Map chart has worked well. However, for France, one specific region is not being recognized and is left greyed out on the map (Bourgogne Franche-Comté)

I don't understand because the geography data format recognizes it as a region, even when I specifically write "Bourgogne Franche-Comté, France", and Bing Map also recognizes the region.

Just to be clear, I've got one row with the regions and one row with the data, like population numbers or various percentages representing different things.

I had to go down one level of region preciness already because there were many regions it didn't recognize.

Does anyone know why that is happening and how to fix it? I need a reproductible method because I have multiple maps to do. Apparently you can do it with Power BI, but I'd rather not because 1. I'm not familiar, that's fine but still time consuming to learn and 2. The aesthetic is very different from the excel charts, so doesn't look really good in a deck if the style changes mid way.

I would appreciate any suggestions!! Thank you in advance
