Hatchery messed up & is denying it

| How do you deal with a hatchery who is intentionally trying to feed you incorrect information to appease you? 3/7 of my gold deathlayers have white barring. 1 has very visible gold barring that doesn’t even resemble the adult pencilling that they grow into. At 3 weeks old, these birds shouldn’t have anything resembling prominent barring on their wings. Not to mention 2 who have white barring also have had visible straight combs since I picked them up. Not cushion combs. The day I picked them up, I called the hatchery about it and was told that the lines originated from Greenfire Farms. I have heard NOTHING bad about Greenfire Farms so I doubt that they messed up and gave this hatchery mixed birds. When I brought up the clear issue of visible straight combs in day old chicks, I was told “maybe they’ll disappear” and when I further pushed it, acknowledging that comb type doesn’t change like that, I was told “maybe they’re roosters”. Obviously, gold deathlayers are not a breed that has sex specific combs beyond the basic trait of males having a larger one. I’m frustrated with this all, but waiting until my chicks get some more feathers on them before contacting the hatchery again. Hopefully once they feather out, the hatchery will accept that they did mess up. [link] [comments] |
