9 Events-Driven Trips to Take In Summer 2026 — & Where to Stay
Hilton

Looking for a little summer travel inspiration outside the usual beach box? There’s plenty going on Stateside this year, from major sporting events to long-awaited musical performances (we’re looking at you, Hilary Duff). Ahead, discover nine events worth traveling for, all taking place in some of America’s most dynamic cultural capitals. Even better? From now until June 1st, Hilton is offering 20% off on stays through January 2027, as long as they’re booked on Hilton.com or through the Hilton Honors app. To help you make the most of this deal, we've paired each event with a standout property nearby — though it’s worth noting that this sale applies to properties outside the US (including Japan and Mexico), too.

US Women's Open Golf Championship — Los Angeles, CA

What better way to kick off summer than with an LA trip to celebrate the best in women’s golf? The US Open championship will take place from June 4 to 7 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, which is just a 25-minute drive from the Conrad Los Angeles. By day, watch as golf superstars Nelly Korda and Charley Hull battle it out to take home the Harton S. Semple Trophy; by night, unwind at the rooftop pool before savoring Californian-Spanish bites at San Laurel, the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant from world-renowned chef José Andrés. Downtown LA institutions like the Museum of Contemporary Art, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Broad Museum, and Grand Central Market are all within walking distance, with foodie favorites Little Tokyo and Chinatown just a 10-minute Uber ride away.

Hilary Duff — Austin, TX

Y2K girlies, assemble. Hilary Duff is embarking on her long-awaited world tour this summer, and where better to see the early-aughts icon perform than Austin? The city has rapidly become one of the buzziest hotspots in the US, landing the title of the seventh best city in America by Time Out and rivaling cities like Nashville for its vibrant live music scene. Duff will be performing on June 28 at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater, with mid-aughts favorite, La Roux, featuring as her opening act. As for where to stay, the Canopy by Hilton Austin Downtown is hard to beat for its central location. Connecting rooms make it ideal for a girls’ weekend, and the rooftop pool is perfect for cooling off in the Texas heat. Even better, the West 6th Street nightlife scene is (literally) right outside your door.

Hamilton — Nashville, TN

Nobody — especially music lovers — has ever needed an excuse to visit Nashville. But with Hamilton running at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center from June 17 to 28, there’s never been a better time. For those who live in the South, now’s your chance to see the epic rap musical that broke Broadway records with its 16 Tony nominations and 11 wins. There’s no shortage of things to do (and eat) in Nashville, but the Graduate by Hilton is a highlight in and of itself. One of Hilton’s most design-forward destinations to date, it features maximalist, Dolly Parton-inspired interiors (think: pastel colors, bold patterns, and plenty of frills), as well as a rooftop pool, dedicated karaoke bar, and country-kitsch bar that’ll make you feel like you’ve landed in the Barbie dream house. Whether you’re Hamilton-ing or not, bookmark this one for your next girls’ vacation.

FIFA World Cup — Miami, FL

There’s no shortage of World Cup events to experience this summer, with tournaments and fan festivals taking place across the country. But for true soccer enthusiasts, no city rivals Miami, where the energy, passion, and nonstop buzz are bound to make every match feel larger than life. The city will be hosting seven matches throughout June and July, but even those who can’t get their hands on tickets can experience the atmosphere at the FIFA Fan Festival at Bayfront Park, which will bring together food stalls, performances, games, and interactive experiences, set against the backdrop of live match broadcasts on giant screens. Beach lovers will want to check into the Hotel Continental Miami Beach, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. Situated on the iconic Collins Avenue, it’s just one block away from the beach, and a five-minute walk to the glamorous Faena District.

250th Anniversary of America — Boston, MA

There are plenty of great cities to visit this summer to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, but our hearts are drawing us towards Boston. The city will be hosting events all summer long, with celebrations peaking towards the end of June through mid-July. What’s on the agenda? Everything from festivals and firework displays to reenactments and special performances, as well as more niche experiences like a chowder festival and tall ship gathering. Staying at the Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown will put you in the heart of the action — the Boston Public Market, Aquarium, TD Center, and Quincy Market are all just a short stroll away.

Olivia Dean — San Francisco, CA

Dying to see Olivia Dean IRL? Good news: she’ll be on tour all summer long. And if you’re looking for an excuse to make a trip out of it, the Bay Area is one of those destinations that never gets old (for seasoned visitors) and never fails to disappoint (for first timers). Dean will be performing at the Chase Center on July 10 and 11, with indie darlings Alice Phoebe Lou, Kokoroko, Jalen Ngonda, and Sasha Keable serving as her supporting acts. The Parc 55 San Francisco is just a 20-minute drive to the venue (and less than a 45-minute walk). Going with your girl gang? There are plenty of suites that sleep four, as well as a champagne vending machine and pool.

Seattle Art Fair — Seattle, WA

Art lovers flock to Seattle each July to peruse the latest in modern and contemporary art, as well as works and installations from both seasoned Pacific Northwestern creatives and up-and-comers. This year, the Seattle Art Fair will be returning to the Lumen Field Event Center from July 23 to 26. A 10-minute taxi ride takes you from the venue to the Charter Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton; stay here for easy access to Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, and the city’s buzzing waterfront. Don’t forget to make some time to enjoy the great outdoors — Rattlesnake Ledge, one of the area’s most popular hikes, is less than an hour away.

Hilton

Lollapalooza — Chicago, IL

Calling Lollapalooza’s 2026 lineup “epic” might actually be an understatement. Performers include Charli XCX, Lorde, Tate McRae, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Olivia Dean, to name just a few. The festival is taking place from July 30 to August 2 in Grant Park, with one-day and four-day tickets still available. Want to be within walking distance to the action? The Hilton Chicago, built in 1927, is less than 10 minutes from Grant Park, and remains one of the city’s most iconic hotels to this day (be sure to grab a pint at Kitty O’Sheas, the hotel’s legendary Irish pub). Other highlights in Chicago this summer? Outdoor film screenings at Millennium Park, lakeside Jazz concerts at the Shedd Aquarium, live classical music at Grant Park, and festivals, street markets, and sporting events aplenty.

US Open Tennis Championship — New York, NY

If you’ve long dreamt of sipping Honey Deuces and rubbing shoulders with celebrities while watching Sinner/Alcaraz go head-to-head, this could be your year. The US Open returns to Arthur Ashe Stadium this summer, running from August 30 through September 13. While you’ll likely want to stay in Manhattan rather than Queens, where the tennis actually takes place, there are plenty of options that allow for easy access to the Billie Jean King Tennis Center, including the New York Hilton Midtown; whether you opt for a taxi or the subway, it’s just around 30 minutes. The hotel couldn’t be any more central, being just a few blocks from Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, Central Park, and the shops of Fifth Avenue (meanwhile, The Museum of Modern Art is literally across the street). Also within a few minutes? Le Bernardin, New York’s most legendary three-Michelin-star restaurant; midtown hotspot Monkey Bar; and, on the more low-key end of the spectrum, the iconic (and every bit as delicious) Halal Guys food stand.
