I’m a beginner photographer and am struggling with lighting photos correctly

I am trying to light a photo like Marlyn Monroe’s diamonds are a girls best friend performance. There seems to be a lot of shadows in the photo so I’m thinking of using one strong light source. Do you think that will be enough. I’ve been trying to experiment with lighting recently but it’s been a struggle. I also linked a shoot that Kylie Jenner did with very similar lighting that I liked!
