Morocco, Spain and Portugal - Jan-April 2026

| We left Canada in late January to fly to Casablanca but made our way straight to Rabat, Morocco’s capital. We spent four weeks in Morocco, visiting Fes, Marrakech, Essaouira, Merzouga, Chefchaouen and Tangier. We then flew to Barcelona where we visited Sagrada Família before taking a high speed train to Madrid. From there we visited Granada then went on a hiking trip to the Sierra Nevada region. Then we went to Valencia for the Fallas Festival in late March. Next, we flew to Madeira where we hiked and visited the beaches. The water was a bit chilly but we got in for a couple of swims. From Madeira we flew to Porto on mainland Portugal where we imbibed in port. We visited Guimaeres then Lisbon. Next we headed south to hike the Fisherman’s Way for five days before heading to the Algarve for a week in Lagos. We finished our trip with a further five nights in Lisbon. [link] [comments] |
