Setting lotion for 1940s-50s curls for NATURALLY STRAIGHT HAIR help
I am looking for something to make my naturally dead straight hair hold for days in curls. If you have any ideas, please send a link to a picture/amazon etc so i can see if its available/they deliver to my country.
I tried setting mousse but it is sticky and heavy which makes the curls fall.
Just using water lasts just a day.
Tried normal "firm hold" hair spray but it's sticky and not strong enough, and doesn't give my hair that fluffy look of the 40s and 50s. Also when I comb through my hair after taking out my pincurls/rollers, it actually makes it go straight again instantly!
Everywhere I look, I just find products for natural curls, but they don't help me as my hair is as straight as it gets.
I want to make vintage my daily look, but I can't if I have to reset my hair every day. Now that it's winter (southern hemisphere) and rainy, my curls almost instantly fall. There were people in the 40s and 50s who had dead straight hair who made it work and I want to know how!
I use pincurls and sometimes rollers (foam, and on special occasions my grandmother's old heat rollers from the 80s). I don't use a curling/straightening iron as the "curls" they produce are too flat for the look I'm going for.
Please also recommend any other subreddits/communities. I know r/VintageFashion, but they usually just post pictures of their 1990s and 2000s clothes...
TIA.
TL;DR: setting lotion for straight hair. links if possible!
