Is wearing a full face of make up to the gym really THAT bad?

TL;DR: Title

I pretty much never go out in public without makeup on. I feel quite insecure without it, so most days I’ll do my makeup in the morning and wear it the entire day. This means that lately I’ve been wearing a full face of makeup to the gym, and only taking it off at night after I get off work (I work closing shifts at a restaurant).

My makeup is fairly full coverage, usually foundation/concealer, setting spray and powder, eyeliner, mascara, etc.

So far my skin has been fine with this routine, which is why I am wondering whether this is really that bad to do. However, maybe this will cause skin problems long term? Has anybody had an experience like this?

I always hear that wearing makeup while sweating is terrible because sweat + bacteria + makeup clog your pores. But then I’ve also heard dermatologists say that pores don’t literally “open and close,” and that this idea is kind of a myth. So now I’m confused about how harmful it actually is/what’s true and what’s blown out of proportion

Another thing I’m wondering is: what’s really the difference between sweating at the gym in makeup vs someone living in a hot country wearing heavy makeup all day and sweating constantly? Isn’t that basically the same thing?

So for the ladies who regularly wear makeup to the gym, has it actually caused skin issues for you long term, or is it one of those things that’s not ideal but not the end of the world either?

Thank you very much in advance for any advice/insight!
