Sandals and Beaches resorts

Random question. But are resorts like Sandals and Beaches…high end/luxury or cheesy/tacky? I remember seeing them in commercials growing up and for some reason, that first impression led me to believe they were some kind of budget/package brand. I also know a couple of people who have barely ever traveled and have stayed there, which didn’t help that assumption or made me think they’re like the Disney/Carnival of the Caribbean lol. But some of the resorts look super nice and they don’t seem cheap. So…am I wrong? Are they actually meant to be nice? I’ve never done a true Caribbean trip so this is just me being clueless and curious how they’re positioned within the market lol.
