Starting out with skincare routines, what do I do?

So I, 21f want to get into skincare after avoiding it my entire life due to cost related and self esteem issues, however I really want to start being my best self outwardly and internally. The cost related issues may apply to me slightly but, I was wondering what I need to do and what I need to start out with?I live in Australia so it’d be a little bit more pricey but just receiving recommendations or advice would be really appreciated. If there’s any Woolworth’s brands you recommend, I’d love to hear it, since other than that and Big W, my town doesn’t have much.
