Ways to count how many names appear in multiple rows and columns?
Hello,
I do up a work roster on excel and am wondering if there is a way that I can get a count on how often each name appears on it? Ideally in a chart with each name and how often their name appears next to it (E.g. Julia : 7) I have tried using a pivot table but cannot figure it out.
An example of how it looks is laid out as so (except with about 100 people on it). I want to make sure everyone is on it for 5 days a week and checking this file is driving me nuts! Bonus points if it also points out if people appear in the same column more than once (twice in one day).
| Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday | Sunday | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bar | Sam | Julia | Katie | Julia | Katie | Sam | Julia |
| Kitchen | Julia | Mike | Julia | Julia | Julia | Mike | |
| Dishes | Katie | James | Mike | Mike | Mike | Katie | James |
| Host | Mike | Sam | Sam | Sam | Mike | Sam | |
| Swing | James | James | James | James |
Thank you!
