Excel is so messed up that it has made my daily tasks unbearable

I don't know how long this situation has been going on, but I'm sure that over the last year, the decline has been even worse. Every day I have to work with multiple Excel files (not necessarily large ones) and the experience is consistently unbearable:

  • Files stop responding until I minimize them, change tabs, or restart Excel entirely.
  • Copy/paste stops working until I restart Excel.
  • Excel automatically changes the active file on its own (this is highly annoying when working with multiple files).
  • When I close a window, sometimes it closes another file that I needed open, instead of the one I was trying to close.

I swear every day a new little bug pops up, making me less efficient and more infuriated at my job.

I remember a few years back being thankful that my job depended on Excel and not on other MS Office tools, because it was the only app that worked as intended. But instead of fixing the rest of their suite, they turned Excel into shit, too. And don't get me started on Windows Explorer crashing frequently since they decided to shove more AI into Windows 11.

Btw, no way to find for alternatives as W11 and Excel as that is how are configured my company's laptops.
