LED Face Mask Burn and What I Did to Heal
Aloha everyone,
I recently got burnt from using my LED face mask and want to share my process And what I did to heal my skin.
I have been using the Omnilux LED mask per the suggested use (10 minutes every other day) for six months. It's amazing, and I love it. It helps even my skin tone giving me a smoother complexion with a little glow. Not sure if it's helping with the fine lines I already had, but maybe it's preventing more. Who knows for sure. I am not allergic to the material of the mask. I also use a retinol eye cream after the mask without any issues.
Anyway, I was under a lot of stress and had a bad breakout so I decided to use the mask everyday leaving it on for a little longer than ten minutes in hopes of zapping the breakout. MISTAKE! I got burnt. Both sides of my face were super red kind of like rosacea and hurt. I could feel the heat. Inside the redness were little bumps everywhere. I was a mess and had to go to work which was embarrassing. DO NOT use the mask more than instructed by the manufacturer.
Day 1 + 2 - I was red with bumps and a burning sensation. I use an aloe leaf from the garden cut it open and smeared the gooey stuff on my face. It helped cool and is packed with vitamin e. You can find big leaves at some grocery stores or farmer's markets. I used coconut oil as a moisturizer and washed with a light face wash. I stopped using all other products. Didn't even cover it with makeup.
Day 3 - Was the WORST! The bumps were more pronounced and there was some flakiness. I stopped with the aloe leaf and used a vitamin e/shea butter lotion to help soothe and heal and just pure shea butter on top of that. No other products, no makeup.
Day 4 - I woke up with minimal bumps and the redness was disappearing. it was like a miracle from day 3! My skin no longer burned. I still used the vitamin e/shea butter lotion and shea butter. No other products, no makeup.
Day 5 - Finally cleared and healed! I used the vitamin e/shea butter lotion and shea butter one last time. Added makeup.
Day 6 - Back to the regular routine.
Hope this helps both as a warning to not use more that suggested and if anyone has gotten burnt. Just know it will heal! I will go back to using the mask staying within the guidelines.
