What kind of chicken

I raised these chickens by hand, but it seems like they don’t get it on water! Both will lay in the hot sun with wings stretched and mouths open so I have to show them (again) where the water is! There are 3 things of water plus a water tower, so they know where it is. Were they just too sheltered? They’ve been with the other chickens and the goats for maybe 2 months. What are your thoughts? Cockeral or American game hen or…?
