Remove light upper lip hair without ingrowns or growing back thicker

What is the best way to remove light/peach fuzzy upper lip hair to avoid it growing back darker and avoid ingrowns? No matter how many people say shaving/dermaplaning doesn't make your hair grow back darker- it does for me! I did it like once, maybe once with a cream, and the hair came back slightly darker and coarser now. BUT wax & sugar give me terrible ingrowns. I feel like threading would do the same and I'm afraid of the pain. Do I have any options? Electrolysis?
