Driving Norway to Southern France next week. Sights and experience advice wanted!

Hi!

I'm staying in Southern France for some weeks. I am driving all the way with my brother on tuesday. We're both adults.

Looking for advice for the drive, specifically. I realize it's coming up so fast and I don't have too many ideas for things along the way.

On the way down we're taking the ferry to Hirtshals in northern Denmark, so I am planning to see Skagen in Denmark. Looks beautiful. Munster Panzermuseum, Hambach mines (giant pit mine. Wanna see that giant Bagger 288 strip miner) in Ruhr of Germany, the hanging monorail in Wuppertal, and the Verdun battlefields (fort Douaumont in particular). Pretty thin list, right? :D

I'm not planning on going to Benelux at all. Denmark -> Germany -> France. Might go through Luxemburg.

Anybody got any "you have to go by x" or "you have to eat y" suggestions? We will spend... 6 days on the drive, so we have some time.

Cathedrals and castles would have to be absolutely unique for a detour, I've seen so many already. Notre Dame, St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican (mindblowing), Chateau de Versailles, Neuschwanstein, Schönbrunn... I've seen a lot of them. We're both well travelled.

No fancy restaurants (my brother objects), but I do want to eat currywurst, doner, eisbein. I wonder if I can get schweinshaxe in western Germany, it's probably my favorite. Anything that is a must-try would be interesting!

I have a very broad range of interests. I like natural sights, architecture, massive things, industry, museums (art/history). Particularly beautiful towns.

On the way back I plan to go through Northern Italy, the Alps, central Germany, bridge over from Denmark to Sweden. Never seen that bridge. So let's leave that return trip out of it, I might make a new thread for that when that time comes.
