Italy - Monaco road trip help

| Hi everyone, I’d appreciate some advice for a road trip I’m planning in August. I’ll be driving with my gf from Istria (Croatia) to Monaco and then back home. I’m looking for good stopover cities/towns rather than just doing long driving days. Current rough plan: • On the way to Monaco: drive through Verona and spend a night somewhere around there (or another good stop roughly halfway between Istria and Monaco). • Main destination: Monaco, but I probably don’t want to stay directly in Monaco because of the prices. I was thinking about staying in Nice instead, but I’m open to better alternatives nearby (Menton, Antibes, Cannes, smaller coastal towns, etc.). I’d love suggestions for places that have a good atmosphere, nice beaches/old town, reasonable parking, and easy access to Monaco. • On the way back: drive through Tuscany. I’d like to make a short 1–2 hour stop in Pisa, then continue somewhere for the evening and overnight stay, and spend the following day in Florence before heading back toward Croatia. I’m completely open to changing the route if there are better ideas. I enjoy scenic drives, coastal towns, lakes, good food, nice old towns, and places that are enjoyable even just for one evening. Would love recommendations for:
Budget per night for hotels 120e for room for 2. Thanks! PS. I'm croatian so no need for recommedations in Croatia. [link] [comments] |
