In May, I spent 6 days in a small apartment with two friends in Dubrovnik. The city was absolutely beautiful but so full of tourists (from every country you can imagine) that I had to wake up at 5am to photograph the streets before they were rammed with people. I was greeted by a couple dozen cats roaming the city in the morning, who were friendly.

The Old Town's architecture and museums were gorgeous. Even though it's small, it still took a couple of days to visit all the museums. Would have been nice if there were more local shops, it seemed almost every shop was tourist-oriented (Game of Thrones was filmed there, not sure which part though since I haven't seen it).

In the last slide is the Flower Moon on May 1st. I've tried to do it justice with some post processing but what's not coming across is just how huge and red it was that night.

I also visited the islands of Lopud and Lokrum. We played football with some local kids and their dad on Lokrum. Lopud was my highlight of the trip; great views, a huge sandy beach, a lengthy chat with two locals in a cafe and, most importantly, far less crowded streets than Dubrovnik itself.

The tourist density was the main downside of the trip. We were staying in a less crowded area outside the city centre, in an area called Lapad, however it still seemed like every other building was a hotel or airbnb. The prices at pubs and bars were also ridiculous. I ended up paying 9 euros during a for a Guinness at an Irish Pub showing Liverpool v United (the atmosphere was great, so worth it in the end).

Overall well worth visiting, especially the neighbouring islands. Would have loved to see more, especially since the ferry tickets were so cheap, but only had limited time.
