False nail help and advise

I bought some false nails for the first time and they’re too long. How do I shorten then from the base and not ruin the almond shape?
I can only find videos on how to shorten them from the tip but the pattern is on there so I can’t shorten them that way.

Any help will be great, I have 5 days to learn 🤞
