One of my most memorable city visits - Ghent, Belgium

| I did my first trip to Belgium back in April 2024 as an extended week after being in Amsterdam. I visited Antwerp, Bruges, and Brussels also but chose Ghent as the home base. The country is extremely easy to navigate - Ghent is centrally located so I could get to the other cities in under an hour by train. I immediately experienced so much charm after arriving with the moody atmosphere and Gothic architecture. It was pretty light on crowds, especially during the weekdays. I found myself hanging out in cafes or pubs while it rained. The Belgian cuisine goes perfectly with their amazing beer (best in the world imo). The people were stylish and kept to themselves, but friendly if asked a question. Very comprehensive, clean and cheap public transit. The city is also pretty compact and ideal for walking around. Something about this place really spoke to me with how peaceful and timeless it is. It’s somewhere I’d love to disappear and write a book. Excited to make it back eventually! 1st - St. Nicholas Cathedral [link] [comments] |
