Toying with two possible itinerary ideas - would love any feedback
EDIT: I know title says "two ideas" but I have three listed. My bad.
My mother retired during COVID, but always wanted to do a big trip with me to Asia. My mother has never been whereas I have been multiple times. I want to plan a trip for the two of us, but looking for some feedback on what is possible/what is not possible.
I'm defaulting to 2 weeks for the trip, however I do have the ability to ask for more time from work if I give them enough advanced notice (we're looking to go in fall 2028)
The big thing at the top of my mother's list to see is The Great Wall in Beijing. So I'm thinking the ultimate end of the trip will be in Beijing.
What I'm thinking is one of the following:
Scenario 1: Fly into Tokyo, work our way across Japan. I was looking to show her around Tokyo, head on up to Kanazawa, then cut back down to Osaka for a day or two, before continuing on to Beijing. (Idea is to spend 6-7 days in Japan, 5-6 days in China)
Scenario 2: Similar to Scenario 1, but replace Japan with Korea (fly into Seoul, explore, head to Busan, explore) and then ultimately proceed onto Beijing from Busan. (6-7 says in Korea, 5-6 days in China)
Scenario 3: Fly into Hong Kong, work our way up to Beijing on the high speed trains, seeing all the cities along the way - Guagngzhou, Guilin, Chengdu, Chongqing, Xi'an, Shanghai, Beijing (not all of those. But basically get off at a city between Hong Kong & Beijing and spend a few days before continuing onwards - 14 days to get between Hong Kong & Beijing)
All three scenarios would be new experiences for my mother, whereas Scenario 3 would be a brand new experience for me. (I've been to Japan twice & Korea once).
I also am open to the idea of flying into Beijing and starting the trip there and then moving outwards on one of the proposed scenarios.
Again, all are ideas - would love some feedback on fine tuning one of these ideas to make it happen, somewhere truly special to take my mother to, etc.
