First trip to Nice: Stay near the Promenade or in Old Town?

Hi everyone,

I’m planning my first trip to Nice and I’m having a hard time deciding where to stay.

I’m currently looking at a mix of hotels and Airbnbs near the Promenade des Anglais because I love being close to the beach and the sea views. The only thing I’m worried about is that some of the places I’m considering seem to be about a 40-50 minute walk from Old Town.

For a first-time visitor, would you recommend staying near the Promenade or in Old Town?

I’ll be in Nice for 3 nights and plan to spend time at the beach, explore Old Town, visit the markets, and do a day trip to Èze and Monaco. I don’t mind walking, but I also don’t want to feel like I’m constantly far away from the main sights, restaurants, and overall atmosphere of the city.

If you’ve stayed in either area, which did you prefer and why? Is being right by the beach worth the extra distance, or would you choose Old Town for a first visit?

Thanks!
