Trump Accuses Iran Of Attacking Indian Ships Near Strait Of Hormuz; Tehran Calls Allegation Baseless

U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Iran of carrying out a drone attack on Indian ships leaving the Strait of Hormuz, calling the alleged action “totally unacceptable.” Iran has rejected the accusation, describing it as “baseless.”
The remarks came after three vessels carrying Indian crew members were attacked off the coast of Oman this week. One of the incidents, which occurred on June 10, resulted in the deaths of three Indian seafarers.
In a post on Truth Social on Friday, Trump claimed that Iran had launched a drone attack against Indian ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
“Their (Iran’s) totally rebuffed Drone attack last night against Indian Ships leaving the Hormuz Strait is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE,” Trump wrote.
In the same post, he also accused Iran of leaking details of a peace proposal to the media, saying the reported information had nothing to do with the issues being discussed.
Iran strongly denied the allegation.
The Iranian Embassy in India rejected Trump’s allegation, describing the accusation regarding an Indian vessel in the Strait of Hormuz as baseless in a social media post late Friday.
The embassy further said that Trump’s allegation was an attempt to divert attention from what it described as U.S. attacks on three Indian vessels in less than a week.
“It is an attempt to divert public attention from the brutal fact that the U.S. has attacked 3 Indian vessels in less than a week and killed 3 innocent Indian sailors. That’s pathetic!” the embassy said.
Trump’s comments came after India summoned the Charge d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi to protest attacks on commercial vessels carrying Indian nationals near the Oman coast.
India has described the attacks on the commercial ships as “deeply worrisome” and has strongly raised the issue with the United States.
