The 5 Easy Summer Pants I Reach for When It’s Too Hot for Jeans

The 5 Easy Summer Pants I Reach for When It’s Too Hot for Jeans

Let’s talk about easy pants—the kind of bottoms that feel effortless the second you put them on. Whether it’s an elastic waistband, a softly tailored trouser, or a silhouette with movement, what defines this style isn’t just the fit, but the feeling. It’s comfortable, yet considered. Paired with a tank, an oversized button-down, a silk cami, a worn-in knit, or a pair of simple sandals, it somehow always works. There’s something quietly luxurious about clothing that doesn’t ask too much of you.

Right now, fashion is less about restriction and more about flow—pieces that move with you throughout the day. Easy pants are exactly that.

Laid-Back Linen

I’m happy to share that my favorite linen pants from Donni are back in stock. They’re designed with an elastic waistband, which I know can sound “lazy,” but I think it’s all about the reframe. It’s not lazy—it’s relaxed!

I paired these pants with a vintage Gucci button-down and my go-to Peggy bag from The Row (one of my favorite investment purchases). By leaving the shirt slightly unbuttoned, the look remains undone in the best way.

Full-On Monochrome

This all-white look is about low effort and simplicity. I say it often, but the Nando Slim Tee by LESET is a must-have. It fits just right, and the weight isn’t too thin. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I want a tee that feels snug. A looser bottom often calls for a more fitted top—it balances everything out without trying too hard.

I almost added a necklace, but I decided to skip it. Sometimes a look can benefit from jewelry, but other times, all you really need is a good pair of sunglasses, flat shoes, and an oversized bag.

Silk and Simplicity

A long-sleeve top and soft silk pants feel strong on their own, but adding a head scarf completes the look effortlessly. Leaning into simplicity is often more chic than overworking a style.

These bottoms are from Enza Costa and honestly, they feel almost too good to wear. For that very reason, I’m considering buying the same exact style in another colorway. I also have a pair from Comme Si on my wish list.

The Drawstring

These cotton bottoms from Mate the Label are a great example of drawstring pants done right. They’re designed with pockets and a slight taper, but they still feel loose in all the right places

I’ve worn them countless times—with tees, long-sleeve button-downs left undone, and even sweaters thrown over my shoulders. Here, I decided to style them with a top from Tank Air. I love a barely-there top paired with floaty pants. There’s something about this combination that feels undeniably polished.

Intentionally Oversized

Okay, I had to show some love to my Donni pants once again. This time around, I styled them with an oversized long-sleeve and a single-string vintage beaded necklace. The beauty of easy pants is that the silhouette carries the look—you don’t need much else.

This season, let’s focus on simplifying our wardrobe to reflect our busy lives. I love a fully styled look, but that isn’t always realistic on chaotic days when I’m working on several projects and running from one coffee meeting to the next.

It’s not just about minimalism, it’s about ease. I’m gravitating toward the styles that make me feel relaxed, not overwhelmed—like the easy pant.
