The 10 Best Summer Body Mists That Are Made to Spritz On a Tropical Vacation

I associate seasons with specific scents. Summer, to me, smells like all the best things. Kara Kowalski, Snif’s Director of Fragrance & Formula Development, shares my sentiment. "To me, summer smells like early morning sunrises, warm breezes, blooming flowers, and trees at their fullest. It smells like sunshine and sunscreen, fluffy beach towels and chlorine from the pool." She also likens it to Aperol Spritzes enjoyed al fresco, sticky gelato runs, and long days that seem to stretch on forever. But what do all these smells have in common? They work so very well as summer body mists.
According to 1996comms co-founder Shannon Travis, body mists "really shine" when it's hot outside. While an eau de parfum can feel intense during a heatwave—especially in close spaces like the subway or the office elevator—mists are "lighter, airy, and perfect for travel." You can spritz them all over—many are suitable for your hair as well, given the low alcohol concentration—and reapply throughout the day as you move from the gym to the beach to dinner, adds Travis. "It’s that freedom and lighter formulation that make them a summer essential,” she says. A stunning combo, really. Keep reading to discover the 10 best summer body mists to capture that carefree seasonal vibe.
Juicy Fruits
To me personally, summer is all about good peaches, plums, and berries. A juicy, fruity body mist can do such a wonderful job capturing the magic of the seasonal produce aisle. Whatever fruit you're craving, there's certainly a summer body mist out there that'll capture its specific flavor.

We've all seen Bella Hadid's mom's impeccably fruit-packed, walk-in fridge, right? The model has to know better than anyone how to pick out a perfectly ripe pear or fig. And she must've taken inspiration for Orebella because Bella formulated this body and hair mist with pear and figs paired with bright citrus, warm tonka, musks, peony, and other delicate florals. It's alcohol-free and infused with hydrating, brightening orange blossom water to give your skin a little extra nourishment.

Strawberry! Mandarin! Sweet cream! Sounds like a good summer dessert setup to me. Mane's newest hair and body fragrance mist is described by the brand as "a soft, playful scent that layers juicy fruits with delicate florals and a warm, creamy finish." It's reminiscent of a sunny Sunday afternoon with zero plans, save for perhaps going to the farmer's market.
Dive Right In
One of this summer's key body mist trends, according to Travis, is scents that evoke a "tropical, aquatic vibe." This scent category is also Kowalski's "favorite part" of her summer scent memory. "Summer smells like the beach! Crashing ocean waves, salty skin, sea spray, and the best mix of earthy, briny, ozonic, and aquatic notes that instantly make me feel relaxed and grounded," Kowalski explains. "It's a season that's both energizing and comforting."

Containing a blend of zesty citrus, soft coconut, and ocean-washed florals that capture "salty skin and sunlit waves," Travis says Island Swim "evokes warmth, salt, and sunbathing on an island." Thank you, PHLUR, for letting us have this experience—even at our desk jobs when summer Friday feels far away.

Another great oceanic summer body mist comes courtesy of Le Monde Gourmand. Infused with an electrolyte blend of sea mayweed, sea salt, tomato fruit, carrot root, and pumpkin seed extracts to nourish your skin, Sel Océan captures "the heart of the ocean" with notes of airy honeysuckle, lily of the valley, and pink sea salt.
In the Garden
I can't constantly brag about how my garden is flourishing; that would be much too annoying. I'm not above wearing a floral scent that tells you the same story, though! The world is in bloom right now, and these summer body mists will let you know.

Have you ever walked through a garden in peak summertime? The word "lush" comes to mind. A lovely scent to help you carry the magic of spring into a new season, First Blush is "bright, fresh, and full of possibility" with notes of honeysuckle, leafy greens, and juicy pear anchored by sheer sandalwood and clean musks.

This luxe body mist is infused with glycerin and red algae to leave your skin soft post-spritz, not to mention gorgeously scented. While every variation is lovely, I'm especially fond of Lily & Yuzu, which the brand describes as an "awakening" where "warm rays shine on a verdant grove." You'll find top notes of yuzu, green apple, and bergamot, a heart of matcha, bamboo, and jasmine, and a base of lily, musk, amber, and cedar.
Sweet Escapes
Perfumes really have the power to transport you somewhere far, far away. Body mists do, too. "Escapism is everywhere right now! We’re seeing fragrances that feel transportive in both fragrance names and scent profiles," says Kowalski. "Brands are leaning into ingredients that instantly transport you somewhere. It’s fun to be able to travel through different vacations by bottle."

Byredo's cult-favorite Bal d'Afrique, which pays tribute to African music and dance, is now a body mist infused with aloe vera. "I find it fascinating how body mists have evolved. They started as playful basics, but now luxury brands are elevating them," says Charlie-James Taylor, co-founder at 1996comms. "It’s a way for younger audiences to experience these iconic scents at a more accessible level. This trend of elevated body mists is definitely something to watch."

If you can't decide where to vacation through scent this summer, why not go everywhere? OUAI's body mist selection is delightful, and this set of minis lets you experience it all—from Santorini (with notes of peach, honeysuckle, and amber) to Ibiza (vanilla, cocoa, and rum) and Melrose Place (rose, berry, and lychee).
Solar Power
While Lorde's Solar Power still hasn't gotten the respect it deserves, solar fragrances are having a moment this summer. (I'm sure "Mood Ring" is just one step behind.) Made to smell how it feels to soak up the sun, these scents really are the perfect summer day in a bottle.

Naturally, Kowalski's favorite summer body mist right now is Spray Tan Body Mist. "Summer has always been my favorite season. The sunshine, beach days, al fresco dinners, blooming flowers, and lush green trees. Everything feels more alive and happy!" she explains. "Spray Tan is especially nostalgic for me because it reminds me of family beach vacations growing up."

And here, we have a quintessential summer body mist: The smell of vacation (ie, sunscreen) courtesy of, well, the brand Vacation. This cute bottle brings the brand's signature scent to a new format that's "built for lighter wear, poolside portability, and effortless on-the-go spritzing." There are many reasons not to forget your SPF, but this is an especially good one: it'll smell so good layered.
