Parisians Are Chic, But Scandi Style Is Taking Over—6 Trends Insiders Are Wearing On Repeat This Summer

As the temperature seems to rise with each passing day, it's clear that high summer is officially in full swing. In desperate need of a few easy yet chic outfits to add to my warm-weather wardrobe, I decided to turn to the sleekest dressers I know for some inspiration. Personally, I don't think anyone does it better than Scandinavian women. Rooted in minimalist basics and simple cuts, they blend sculptural silhouettes with modernist prints and bold colours to create looks that not only feel timeless but also undeniably current.

And in a region where even the warmest of summers can have a fresh (read, chilly) undercurrent, their outfits need to be built for purpose as well as style. So, as a fashion editor who hates being cold and gravitates towards classic yet playful pieces, I’m a magpie for any trend that makes it into their summer wardrobes.

Now, if you’re a follower of fashion, you’ll know that Scandi girls are the modern-day trendsetters. After all, we have them to thank for Ganni and Cecilie Bahnsen, as well as many other brilliant Scandi brands, and many of the styles shaping our wardrobes of late were probably spotted at Copenhagen Fashion Week over the past few seasons (or, better yet, on the street-style set outside the shows).

As we continue to decide between clean minimalism and buzzy maximalism in summer 2026, there has never been a better time to bring the Scandi approach to your own seasonal wardrobe. Be it über-cool balloon pants, animal print, stripes galore or '60s-inspired vintage prints, trust me: there's a Scandi-inspired trend in this list for you. Scroll to discover my seven favourites.

1. Minidresses

Style Notes: We know Scandi girls love to layer, be it turtlenecks under shirts or stacking multiple tees. But in summer 2026, it's all about layering minidresses. Wear one over lightweight harem pants like Nnenna Echem (pictured above) or over a long-sleeved top, or choose a babydoll shape in a soft colour for breezy functionality and styling fluidity this summer, as championed by poster girl Elsa Hosk.

2. Sculptural Heels

Style Notes: Never boring, Scandi fashion people typically lean towards unique shapes and silhouettes that elevate their looks with points of interest. The rise of the sculptural heel is a perfect example. Basically wearable pieces of art, they instantly up the cool factor of even the simplest outfits, making them look far more avant-garde than a regular court shoe.

3. Vintage Prints

Style Notes: It's no secret that many of the world's best vintage shops are in Scandinavia, so naturally, these prints appear regularly year-round. Kitsch, eclectic and often rare treasures, they’re an easy way to inject a little personality into your outfit without feeling overdone. Take a look at Marie Jedig's summer ensemble (above), for example. Sure, her outfit would look just as chic with a pretty blouse, but her harlequin-print Saint Laurent peplum top (from the 1994 runway) adds a uniqueness that can't be replicated.

4. Chic Co-Ords

Style Notes: Stylist and Rotate founder Jeanette Madsen (above) gives a masterclass in how to wear a co-ord here. Her blush-pink jacket and miniskirt look occasion-ready thanks to the voluminous cocoon sleeves and structured shape, and she adds a playful twist through her animal-print wedge thong sandals. It’s one to save for later if you're looking for a refined way to play with colour and texture.

5. Animal Prints

Style Notes: If you ever needed proof that animal print is never "out", look to Scandi style. Unconcerned with leopard jeans and tiger skirts, instead, the style set uses scarves and shoes to prove that a hint of print is the chicest way to wear the trend in 2026. My current inpso? Maren Schia'sdressy weekend look. Sure, it would still be chic with flip-flops or a ballet flat, but the zebra-print mules add a fresh energy that is oh-so Scandi.

7. Capris

Style Notes: It goes without saying that capris are the item of the summer (for the second year running), and a Scandi capsule is almost incomplete without them. Adding a sporty, model-off-duty finish to any look, this once-"dated" style is being worn with pretty white blouses or layered under draped dresses, as Hanna Stefansson demonstrates above.
