India has expressed concern over recent attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz after the U.S and Iran exchanged missile attacks, accusing each other of violating the ceasefire agreement.

US. President Trump, who is in Turkiye for the NATO meet, also said that the deal with Iran is ‘over’ since it fired on commercial ships in the waterway that had taken the route close to the Oman coast to cross the Hormuz and not the one close to Iran and authorised by the IRGC for commercial shipping.

India was hit hard when Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz after the U.S and Israel attacked the Islamic Republic.

The country faced an LPG and oil shortage, an increase in prices of basic commodities, and even the fertiliser reserves dwindled ahead of the Kharif season, as ships remained stranded for months.

India’s External Ministry said that the current attacks risk regional peace, security and stability. It urged both the U.S and Iran to exercise restraint and safeguard civilians while ensuring the uninterrupted flow of energy supplies.

Recently, Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar flew to Kuwait as part of a tour of West Asia, where he met Kuwait’s foreign minister Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Jaishankar discussed the impact of the war on the region and conveyed India’s gratitude for efforts to ensure the community’s well-being.

The leaders also discussed other issues, including trade and investments, technology, food security, defence, etc.

Jaishankar also met Kuwait Prime Minister Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
