Coop/run size question

Coop/run size question
Coop/run size question

Hi all,

Somewhat new chicken owner here. We got 1‑week‑old chickens a month back, so as of now they are about 5 weeks old. 4 of them. For the time being, this should be their coop, while we work out the final coop we will build for them.

So the question is, will this work for the next 2 months or what needs to be changed? As you can see, their coop for the night (9 pm to 7 am) is a euro pallet with a frame on it. In there are two small pipes to sit on, maybe 60–80 cm length in total. It is not high (40 cm), this is my main concern.

The run for the day is about 6 m². When we are around they have access to more room in the garden. But only then because of predators or them getting away. Access to this varies a lot based on our daily program.

They seem to be eager to get out of the fenced area every time, that’s why I am not sure if they have too little room in the run.

So, what improvements are needed for chickens 5–21 weeks of age in this temporary setup?
