Carnival Cruise Line revealed that the first ship in the company’s Ace Class will be Carnival Destiny, which will become the biggest cruise ship in its fleet once operational.

The 230,000 gross ton ship will have a capacity for 8000 guests, and over 70% of the venues and attractions on the vessel launching in 2029 will be new to the cruise line.

It will also be the most ‘outward-facing’ megaship in the world with several ocean-view balcony cabins and over four and a half acres of glass, including glass walls covering multiple decks.

The cruise ship will also feature a reimagined lanai deck, a lower outdoor wraparound deck.

Carnival Destiny is scheduled for delivery in 2029, followed by two other ships of the Ace-class in 2031 and 2033.

The cruise line has not revealed its itinerary, but it will visit private destinations in the Bahamas, Mexico and the Caribbean. Carnival held a steel-cutting ceremony for the ship at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.

The Carnival Destiny was also the original name of the Carnival Sunshine, constructed in 1996, before it underwent a ship overhaul in 2013.

During the ceremony, the cruise line reflected on the legacy of the ship, first named Carnival Destiny, which entered service three decades ago with innovative design features and a record number of cabins for that time.

After an extensive refit in 2013, the ship continues to operate as the Carnival Sunshine. The original Carnival Destiny accommodated more than 2000 guests, and its successor boasts double that capacity.
