Iran Attacks Two UAE Tankers, Killing 1 Indian Crew Member & Injuring 8 Others

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) admitted to attacking and disabling two oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, citing involvement in illegal activities such as switching off their navigation systems and ignoring repeated warnings from Iranian authorities.
Iran made this statement hours after the UAE blamed it for launching cruise missiles on two of its national tankers, named Mombasa, an oil tanker and Al Bahiyah, an LNG Tanker.
An Indian crew member was killed in the attack, and 8 others have been injured, of whom four have sustained serious injuries.
The strikes led to onboard fire and damage on both tankers, though the blaze has been brought under control, the authorities mentioned.
In a statement, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said: “A few hours ago, the child-killing U.S. military, which has not learned from its repeated failures, attempted to guide several vessels through an illegal route.”
It also mentioned that U.S. forces urged the oil tankers to turn off their navigation systems and ignore warnings from the control centre.
The IRGC warned commercial ships about the risks of cooperating with the U.S. It said that anyone who works with the aggressors who have come from thousands of kilometres away to violate the rights of the people of the region will regret it and suffer from damage.
It also said that these manoeuvres would delay the reopening of Hormuz and the resumption of normal shipping operations through the waterway.
The UAE’s Defence Ministry called it a flagrant attack, a grave violation and a clear breach of international law that threatens regional security and stability.
The spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters stated that Iran had already warned that it would not allow the U.S to intervene in the management of Hormuz.
