‘Ono at Home: The Coconut Lift

From protein-packed snacks and popcorn to coffee, protein is popping up in foods and beverages—even in places you might not expect. It’s even finding its way into the cold foam that tops iced coffee drinks.
The folks at Kōloa Rum decided to give protein a tropical twist. The Coconut Lift cocktail combines the company’s coffee rum and coconut rum with cream of coconut and a fluffy vanilla protein cold foam.
Ingredients:
- ¾ oz. Kōloa Kauaʻi Coconut Rum
- 1 oz. Kōloa Kauaʻi Coffee Rum
- 2 oz. cold brew coffee
- 1 oz. cream of coconut (or Coco Reàl)
- 1 oz. oat milk (or milk)
- 1 cup ice
Protein Cold Foam (easy homemade version)
- ¼ cup skim milk or unsweetened oat milk
- ½ scoop vanilla protein powder
Froth with a handheld frother until thick and creamy.
*For a quick shortcut, use a ready-made vanilla protein shake (such as Fairlife Core Power or Premier Protein) and froth a few tablespoons.
Instructions:
Blend the cocktail ingredients until smooth and frosty. Pour into a chilled glass and top with the protein cold foam. Garnish with toasted coconut and a few coffee beans.
