Rooster abandonment

Is it common for people to abandon roosters in neighborhoods? From the number of times I've seen someone post a random rooster showing up in their yard on this subreddit, to the number of random roosters that show up at my door asking to join my flock; is rooster abandonment common practice?

It's getting so bad around me that I'm considering building a 3rd coop as a bachelor pad.
