The “K” LINE Group conducted worldwide cleanup activities during the period before and after World Oceans Day* on June 8, with employees from Group companies joining voluntarily.

Along with climate change, the Group has positioned the conservation of biodiversity, particularly in the oceans, as an important issue to be addressed, and has been continuing these activities since FY2023.

This year, approximately 630 employees and their families from 12 Group companies around the world took part in the activities during the two-month period around World Oceans Day from the end of May to early July, exceeding last year’s participation.

They collected garbage on beaches, areas around offices, and other places on land. Much of the plastic waste that enters the ocean originates from land-based sources, making measures to address these sources essential.

Based on this recognition, the Group promotes litter collection activities on land and, following last year’s initiative, plans to continue making donations to environmental conservation initiatives this fiscal year in proportion to the number of participants in these activities.

Moving forward, the “K” LINE Group will continue to make every effort to realize one of the Group’s values—contributing to the global environment and a sustainable society—by raising employees’ awareness of environmental conservation through activities like these.

World Oceans Day was established by the United Nations in 2009 to think about and acknowledge the oceans. On this globally recognized day, seaside cleanup activities and educational events are held in more than 100 countries worldwide.
