Today is National Handloom Day, and I found myself thinking less about fabric and more about time.
The first time I watched a weaver work, I kept waiting for the fabric to appear.
Instead, I watched the same movement repeated over and over.
Thread by thread.
There wasn’t a dramatic moment where it suddenly became cloth.
It was just patience.
As someone building a clothing brand, it made me realise that we often admire the finished garment without thinking about the hours already woven into it before a designer even sketches an idea.
Now, whenever I pick up a roll of handloom fabric, I don’t just see texture.
I see someone’s time.
Has anyone else had a moment where seeing how something is made completely changed how you value it?
