Put Down the Polka-Dots—Lori Harvey's Striped Outfit Offers a Fresh Take on Late-Summer Vacation Dressing

My fall fashion is still in storage, but I'm already experiencing summer style withdrawal. Instead of brooding over the impending arrival of chunky knits and coats, I'm committing to late-summer trends like Lori Harvey. On August 7, I was inspired to book an end-of-summer vacation after seeing Harvey's outfit.

Harvey is making the most of the season's grand finale, jetting from Tokyo, Japan, to Biarritz, France, and beyond. This week, while soaking up the South of France sun, she appropriately sampled the striped Breton shirt trend in an emerald green T-shirt that looked straight out of the '90s.

The model stacked the multicolored tee beneath an equally nostalgic denim overalls dress from Miu Miu. Her raffia beach bag, celebrity-beloved headscarf trend, and black-and-white flip-flops continued her "how to dress for the summer" masterclass. Adding a teeny-tiny anklet atop the contrasting thong sandals was the effortlessly cool cherry on top.

Days before Harvey's latest look graced Instagram, summer's striped style takeover influenced Marie Claire's fashion editor Lauren Tappan to step outside her minimalist comfort zone: "It’s been nearly impossible to scroll through my Instagram and TikTok feeds without spotting at least one striped garment," she wrote. "Some fashion content creators are styling line-patterned tops with white jeans, gauzy linen skirts, and Bermuda shorts. Meanwhile, others are pairing two-tone trousers with barely-there tanks and halter tops."

Beyond the confines of social media, designers like Zimmermann, Ralph Lauren, Jacquemus, and Loewe presented the print as an easy-breezy way to make basics more exciting. Stripes appeared on the Spring/Summer 2026 runways in all shapes and shades. This uptick presumably caught Harvey's eye.
