What is the Gulf of Mexico like today given the oil spill that occurred 16 years ago? How much has it recovered, what has changed, how does the water quality today compare to before the spill?

Ever since the oil spill happened in the Gulf I have not gone there. I have had a recent interest in visiting the Gulf again, to see what it is like. I have some questions that I hope you'll be able to discuss.

What is the water quality like in say Alabama's coast or in the Gulf of Mexico in general today compared to before the spill occurred?

What happened to oil? I know they used chemical dispersants, which in fact increased my concerns. What happened to the chemical dispersants?

Have any of you gone swimming in the Gulf since the spill? What was it like? And was it different from before the spill.
