I ran a fashion brand for 7 years. Here are 7 things I wish someone had told me before I started.

  1. Beautiful clothes don't automatically make a successful brand.

2.Don't make more inventory than you can realistically sell.

3.Pricing is a business decision, not just a costing exercise.

4.Your customer may value something completely different from what you think they value.

5.Instagram is not a business model.

  1. Sustainability becomes much more complicated when you're actually running a business.

7.Being a fashion designer and being a fashion entrepreneur are two very different jobs.
