Bodies of 4 Seafarers Killed In Houthi Missile Attack In Red Sea Taken From Yemen To Saudi Arabia

Bodies of 4 seafarers, 3 Pakistanis and an Indonesian who were killed in a recent Houthi missile attack on a vessel in the Red Sea, were transferred from Yemen to Saudi Arabia ahead of repatriation.

Along with the deceased, 6 injured crew members, including 5 Pakistanis and an Indonesian, were taken by road from the port city of Mokha, where they had been receiving medical treatment, to Aden, before a flight to Jeddah.

The seafarers were on the Yemeni ship Tihama, which was attacked by Houthis while sailing through the Bab Al-Mandab Strait on Aug. 11, 2026.

The attack is being called one of the deadliest in the region since 2023, which led to the deaths of 4 seafarers onboard the vessel and injured 6, according to the Yemeni Coast Guard, which reported that two of their personnel also lost their lives when they were carrying out the rescue operations.

The repatriation comes as the conflict has escalated between Houthis and the internationally recognised Saudi-backed Yemeni government, which have exchanged drone and missile strikes across Taiz, Saada and Hodeidah in the last 48 hours.

Two soldiers from Yemen’s armed forces also died in two different places after being struck by Houthi drones.

Four civilians, including a 13-year-old child, also died when the Houthis bombed residential areas in Al Khokha in Hodeidah province with missiles and mortar rounds.

Yemen’s Military said that its units conducted attacks against Houthi fortifications, vehicles, gatherings and key sites, including in Saada.

The situation in Yemen worsened this month when Houthis launched drone and missile attacks at Yemeni army camps, which killed 17 people and wounded dozens.
