Cara Delevingne's Topshop Collaboration Is A Total 2010s Flashback

Picture this: It’s 2014, One Direction’s Four is playing in your corded headphones, and you’re browsing the racks at the massive (now closed, sadly) Topshop NYC flagship for an outfit inspired by the ultimate British it girl: Cara Delevingne. That same nostalgia hits after seeing the model’s new Topshop x Cara collection, which launches today. Delevingne’s first line with the British retailer is filled with pieces inspired by her rugged personal style, affordably priced from $45 to $159.
“Topshop has been part of my style story for as long as I can remember, so co-designing this collection felt really personal,” Delevingne says in a press release. “I’ve always loved the way the brand captures London style that feels distinctive yet effortless. These pieces are a celebration of that feeling in a way that feels true to me.”
Delevingne loves denim, which can be seen in the collection’s straight-leg jeans, baggy culottes, and waterfall maxi skirt in blue, black, and brown shades. Also included are long-sleeved T-shirts and tank tops with details like raised seams and scooped necks. On the dressier side, the line includes an asymmetric minidress, cropped trench jacket, and oversized pinstriped suit with washed textures for a grungy feel. Like Delevingne’s off-duty looks, all of the pieces in her Topshop line were made to be mixed and matched together as a capsule wardrobe.

“Cara has always been synonymous with the confidence and creativity at the heart of Topshop,” said the brand’s Managing Director Michelle Wilson in a press release. “As a global style icon with deep London roots, she brings a distinctive point of view that resonates with our community around the world. We're thrilled to invite Cara to bring her creativity and sense of style to a collection that celebrates our denim DNA, creating a collection that feels both timeless and unmistakably hers.”

Of course, Delevingne and Topshop’s new collection is also an instant callback to the 2010s British style craze, particularly 2012. That year, Delevingne was one of the top UK-based models (alongside Jourdan Dunn, Georgia May Jagger, and more) to take over fashion with her Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show debut and Model of the Year win at the British Fashion Awards.
The early half of the decade would also include Delevingne’s first Topshop runway appearances and a viral campaign with Kate Moss (who had her own collabs with the brand at the time), as well as British supermodels in the closing ceremony of the London Olympic Games. With their shared history and the current resurgence of early 2010s style, Topshop and Delevingne’s new collection is truly kismet. We’re ready to relive our British fashion fixation all over again.
