Calling All Scandi Girls: Cecilie Bahnsen's New Asics Sneakers Are Here

Despite being one of the biggest designer names to come out of Copenhagen's style scene, Cecilie Bahnsen no longer shows in her hometown of Denmark. But while the designer—known for her hyper-feminine, voluminous designs—now stages her runways during Paris Fashion Week, she'll never abandon her brand's Scandi roots. That's why, for the seventh Cecilie Bahnsen x Asics collaboration, which introduced the new Gel-Kinetic FR Sneakers, the partners set the whimsical campaign in Copenhagen.

The open-air theater matched the playful energy of the new pairs, while the earthy backdrop highlighted the design details seen throughout the four-year-long collaboration. Bahnsen's signature 3-D flowers—seen on previous partnership sneakers: the GT-2160s in 2023, the Gel-Quantum 360 VIII in 2024, and the Gel-Terrain and Gel-Kayano in 2025—are back and front and center.

With "layers of texture and depth," the sneaker is meant to embody the "kinetic energy of flowers in motion; petals falling, stems growing, and nature constantly shifting," according to the press release.

By directing the dancers to contort themselves (in their airy Cecilie Bahnsen attire) into unconventional poses, artist and photographer Isabelle Wenzel captured the Gel-Kinetic FR Sneakers from every angle. The lightweight trainers—complete with semi-matte sidewalls, mesh floral-printed toe boxes, and Velcro straps over each shoelace set—come in two color combinations: Piedmont Grey (silver with pink trim) and Black Coffee (charcoal with chocolate brown leather).

The ongoing collaboration also brought back the shoe charm trend—in cool blue and pale pink flowers, plus mint green and tangerine orange beads.

Much like the Cecilie Bahnsen x Asics predecessors, the sculptural soles can be worn as running shoes: "The silhouette balances technical functionality with a fashion-led approach to construction, allowing performance elements to become an integral part of the visual language." Translation: You could style the same shoes during an early-morning run or at Bahnsen's Paris Fashion Week runway show.

“I love the richness of detail and the playful elements that unfold across the shoe, giving them a sense of movement and bringing them to life," Bahnsen said in the press release. "From the delicate transparencies and flower-shaped eyelets to the interplay of matte and glossy finishes, each layer introduces something unexpected and [feels] light [and] joyful."

Calling her collaboration with Wenzel "incredible," the creative director hoped the campaign would "capture these details in a way that felt beautiful, elevated, and full of emotion."

Cecilie Bahnsen and Asics have come a long way since they first teamed up: After the Gel-NYC sneakers debuted on the Spring 2023 runway at Paris Fashion Week, all 150 pairs of the limited-edition design sold out in minutes. Back then, the designer promised more styles were in the works. Little did sneakerheads know, she had four years' worth of collections up her voluminous puff sleeves (though styles continue to sell out quickly with each launch).

At this point, the Cecilie Bahnsen x Asics collaboration has established its own collection of house codes, as if the brands have been one all along.

The new Gel-Kinetic FR Sneakers launch on September 12, two weeks before Bahnsen's Spring 2027 fashion show in Paris. Will we see the pair on the runway? Bookmark this page to find out, plus get more updates for Cecilie Bahnsen x Asics sneakers, including the price of each pair and where to shop.
