The Curious Story of How the Camera Came Before the Egg

When cameras were first made commercially viable, they were built incredibly solid and durable. The glass slides that they photographed on, on the other hand, were pretty fragile and needed to be treated with immense care. It's a wonder that Ansel Adams was able to haul camera gear into pretty rough terrain and make images that still are around today. But after many years, the camera seemed to devolve into something more dainty and egg-like. So then human started treating their cameras like eggs too.
