The Chicest People I Know Shop at Cos, Reformation, and J.Crew—19 Items on Their Fall Shopping List

Every fall season, editors wax poetic about the newfound joys of the season's collections. I've been doing this for a lot of years—and rarely have I ever been so impressed with the fall releases. Collections from COS, Reformation, and J.Crew, specifically, have reached new heights. Despite their longstanding presence in fashion, these labels have found a way to evolve their respective aesthetics in a way that feels both authentic and totally fresh. And editors have taken notice.
The best-dressed people I know—both within the industry and out—are stocking their wardrobes with buys from these mid-tier retailers. Take a page out of their book and shop the best staples and personality pieces from J.Crew, COS, and Reformation.

I've always had a soft spot for frog closures—so naturally, I'm thriving. Because the design detail is featured heavily in fall's newest drops. All this to say: This jacket is at the top of my shopping list.

At this very moment, fashion editors and influencers are padding out their fashion month wardrobe with heaps and heaps of animal print. Zebra print mules, particularly, will lead the charge. Watch this space!

Culottes cropped up in the wardrobes of every New York City it-girl this summer, and they're not letting them go easily. The shorts will continue their main character status, but styled with boots and rugby shirts, instead of crop tops and thongs.

Everyone talks about Reformation's sun dresses, but insiders know they've also perfected the art of the elevated basic. This gauzy top, for instance, toes the line between minimalist and interesting.

Fawn spots have entered the chat. Continuing the animal print conversation, they're an unexpected take on the classic fur look.

Silhouettes evolve, but plaid skirts will always be famous—especially during the fall season. Pleated styles are still very much in, but consider this midi style with a playful handkerchief hemline for a more exciting take.

All the "cool girls" are shopping striped rugby shirts right now. (It's me, I'm "cool girls.") In the category of easeful androgyny, they're truly unmatched.

At this point, my silver bangle collection has reached maximum capacity. Gold bangles, however, are severely underrated.

I'd just like to say, on the record, that black trench coats are the next frontier of polished fall dressing. Cinched at the waist, with oversized shoulder pads—you'd be hard-pressed to find a chicer outerwear style.

Everyone's talking about J.Crew's new rollneck half-zip and, honestly, I don't get it. Last year's version is sooo much better—and, thankfully, has just been restocked.

Yes, sweaters and trousers are seasonal necessities, but don't skimp out on formalwear. Reformation has plenty of gorgeous, fall-appropriate styles worthy of any black tie occasion.

I never thought I'd say this, but...the crewneck is dead. For fall, necklines are reaching new lows—even in the knit category.

Loafers have been the star child of the cool girl uniform for a minute how—and it's about time we shook things up. Patent leather adds a little high-fashion edge to the low-key shoe style.

Frankly, don't show me a cardigan if it doesn't have a faux leopard fur neckline. I'll die on that hill.

Barrel jeans are the best thing that's happened to the denim industry in years and fashion girls are riding the trend as long as possible. Invest in a stylish, dark-wash pair for the upcoming cold weather.

Thanks to one Matthieu Blazy, cap-toe pumps have never been more relevant. If you're not into dupe culture, try this more nondescript black and white style.

This is a recommendation pulled directly from my own wardrobe. Can confirm: a faux snakeskin shoulder bag is literally the best thing you can do to rejuvenate your wardrobe.

Barn jackets were the golden child of fall 2025 fashion. This checked version offers the same level of style, with a palpable update.
