The Cameras That Tell the Story of 9/11

Every year, the Phoblographer treats 9/11 as a pretty sacred day. In fact, if we don't publish stories about photographers on this date, then we don't publish at all. That decision comes from me. During 9/11, I was 14 years old in religion class at St. Francis Prep in Fresh Meadows, NYC. Back then, the western side of Queens wasn't as developed and you could see pretty far out. This was also a time before I went legally blind, and I remember seeing the second tower get hit by a plane. It's still in my head. And today, it's kind of weird to hear younger generations make fun of it even though Mayor Mamdani announced recently that the results of the event have caused more deaths than the amount of people who died that day.
