Neal Slavin: Vintage Photos of a Lost American Culture

There's something inherently Americana about the work that photographer Neal Slavin is really known for. Towards the end of summer 2026, I sat on my balcony to take in the book, "Neal Slavin: When Two or More are Gathered Together," I realized that we've lost something: community. The book can be had really affordably on Amazon. We've cited him and his innovative use of color photography in a time when black and white was the norm. And make no mistake: I've known that community has been lost for a while. But it wasn't until I sat and really soaked myself in the images that I truly felt it.
